Description:

Public health professionals develop and implement initiatives that improve the health, safety and well-being of populations in local neighbourhoods, cities, countries and beyond. The Public Health degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) offers experiential learning opportunities such as a paid co-op option, laboratory testing and analysis training, site visits, presentations and seminars, an optional independent research project and an accredited optional specialization in Public Health Inspection. You'll graduate prepared to protect the health of communities large and small, and make a difference in the lives of many. After graduation, you can pursue a wide range of career options in public and community health. If graduating with the optional specialization, you can become certified as a public health inspector with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry 

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%, and the following required Grade 12 U courses (minimum grade of 65% in each):

  • English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)
  • One of Chemistry (SCH4U) or Biology (SBI4U)

Applicants not educated in Ontario must submit evidence of education equivalent to the OSSD with six Grade 12 U or M courses. Minimum Canadian provincial requirements for admission are available for reference on the Canadian Secondary School Students webpage.

Note: Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university will not be considered for admission to the 4-year degree program.
